How to ask the cards a question
A good question is open and about one situation. It starts with “what”, “how” or “what should I notice” and leaves room for reflection. Yes/no questions and questions about other people work less well: the card speaks about you and how you see what is happening.
| Better to ask | Instead of |
|---|---|
| What should I pay attention to at work right now? | Will I get promoted? |
| What is holding me back in this relationship? | Does he love me? |
| How can I best prepare for the move? | Will the move go well? |
| What will help me make this decision? | Which decision is right? |
Before picking a card, stay with your question for a few seconds. No rituals needed — just name honestly what is on your mind.
How to read the card you draw
Keywords
The three words under the card’s name are its core. Start there: which of them strikes a chord?
The image
Look at the picture: figures, gestures, colours. What catches your eye first? That detail often turns out to matter.
Apply it to your question
The meaning in COSMEYA is already tied to your question. Read it again and ask where this theme is in your situation.
Question for reflection
It keeps you from stopping at a first impression. You don’t have to answer it at once — come back to it in the evening.
The advice at the end of the result is a hint rather than an instruction: a small step you could take if the card resonated.
The Rider–Waite–Smith deck
COSMEYA uses the most recognisable tarot deck in the world. It was published in London in 1909; the concept came from the occult scholar Arthur Edward Waite, and all 78 pictures were drawn by the artist Pamela Colman Smith.
What sets the deck apart is that every card, minor arcana included, shows a scene. Before it, the minor cards usually showed only the suit symbols; here each card is a small story you can “read” even without a guidebook. The original 1909 artwork is now in the public domain.
Major and minor arcana
The deck has 22 major and 56 minor arcana. The majors speak of big themes and turning points — choices, change, inner growth. The minors describe everyday situations and come in four suits of 14 cards: ace to ten, plus four court cards — page, knight, queen and king.

Card of the day
The card of the day is one card drawn without a question, as a pointer for the day: what to think about, what to notice, what to lean on. It will arrive daily in your personal account with a subscription, together with your personal horoscope and number of the day.
Until then, ask your question in the form above — or look at the moon calendar: many people match their questions to the phase of the Moon.
Questions & answers
You can: the deck is reshuffled for every reading, so a different card may come up. But we suggest not asking again straight away — the first card is a prompt to reflect, not an answer to double-check. If the situation has changed, rephrase the question and press “New reading”.
No, in a COSMEYA reading the cards are read upright. Each meaning already includes both the card’s strengths and what is worth watching.
We don’t use tarot for predictions. A card is an image that helps you look at your question from the outside and notice what you might have missed. The decisions stay with you.
