Your big cycles
Enter your birth date and COSMEYA will work out from the planets’ positions when Jupiter and Saturn return to their birth places, when their squares and oppositions fall and when the Uranus opposition arrives. These cycles don’t need your birth time or place: slow planets barely move in a day.
Dates are the moments the aspect is exact. A period’s theme is usually felt for a few months before and after.
What the Life Map is
Planets move through the zodiac at different speeds. The slow ones — Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus — come back to where they were when you were born, or form key angles to that point, at predictable ages. Astrologers have noticed that these moments often coincide with familiar transitions: leaving school, the “thirties crisis”, the midlife reassessment.
The Life Map puts these cycles on one timeline. It doesn’t say what will happen — it shows which questions, by astrological tradition, grow louder in different years, and helps you meet them consciously.
The big cycles
- 12 years
Jupiter cycle
Jupiter goes around the zodiac in about 12 years. Its returns — around 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60 — are linked with growth, new horizons, learning and a wider circle. A good time to ask: where do I want to grow next?
- 29.5 years
Saturn cycle
The Saturn return, around 29–30 and 58–60, is a time of growing up and review: what you chose that is truly yours and what needs rebuilding. Saturn’s squares and opposition (around 7, 14–15, 22, 36–37 and 44) are checkpoints on the same theme.
- ≈ 42 years
Uranus opposition
Uranus takes 84 years to go around the zodiac, and halfway, around 40–42, it stands opposite its birth position. That moment is linked with a wish for change, freedom and honesty with yourself — what people call the midlife crisis.
- ≈ 21 and 63
Uranus squares
Around 21 — the first claim to a path of your own and independence. Around 63 — a new freedom after a long working chapter ends.
There are other cycles too — Neptune’s square to its own position around 40–42, and the Pluto square, whose timing depends on your generation. The free timeline shows the three main ones: Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus.
How to read your periods
Each mark on the timeline is a moment when a slow planet forms an exact aspect to its own birth position. Because of retrograde motion a planet can cross one point up to three times, so a period sometimes stretches over a year.
- Returns (the planet is back in its place) — one cycle ends and the next begins.
- Oppositions (the planet stands opposite) — the middle of a cycle: you see what has worked and look for balance.
- Squares (90°) — points of tension that push you towards action and decisions.
Your current period
Once calculated, the timeline marks your age and the nearest transitions. In your personal account the Life Map will become more detailed: progressions and transits to your birth chart will join the big cycles, along with a reading of which themes are active now and how to live them.
How to prepare for transitions
Knowing in advance that a Saturn return or the Uranus opposition is coming is useful not for worrying but for preparing. A few questions that help you meet a transition more calmly:
- What did I choose myself, and what out of habit? Big cycles often light up decisions made “because that’s what you do”.
- Where do I feel cramped? If some area of life has been short of air for a while, a transition is a good time to change it consciously rather than under pressure.
- What can I lean on? People, habits, skills — whatever holds while the rest is being rebuilt.
- What do I want to take into the next cycle? A transition is a beginning as well as an end: it helps to name what you carry forward.
The Life Map and your birth chart
Planetary cycles are the same for everyone but are lived differently — depending on where these planets sit in your birth chart and which of its points they touch. A Saturn return in the tenth house tends to be about career; in the seventh, about relationships.
To see not only the big stages but also the current influences on your chart, look at transits.
Questions & answers
Saturn comes back to where it was when you were born about every 29.5 years — around 29–30 and 58–60. In astrology it is a time of review: what you chose that is truly yours and what needs rebuilding.
No. The Life Map shows which themes astrology links with different periods, not events. It is a prompt to reflect on where you are now, not a forecast.
For the big cycles your birth date is enough: Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus barely move in a day. The detailed Life Map in your personal account will also need your birth time and place — as for a birth chart.
The average periods are the same, but the exact dates depend on where the planets were on your birthday and on retrograde motion. A few months’ difference between people of the same age is normal.
